Practical care

Cleaning and ammunition safety

01

Before cleaning

Use an ammunition-free area. Point safely, remove ammunition, open the action and visually and physically verify every chamber. Follow the exact manufacturer manual.

02

During and after

Wear eye protection, use correct tools and ventilation, avoid mixing chemicals and keep lead residue away from food. Refer uncertain work to a licensed dealer or armourer.

03

Reloading boundary

Reloading requires lawful possession, specialist training and published manufacturer data. This site covers storage, contamination, inspection and PPE—not recipes or step-by-step manufacture.

Knowledge check

Test your safety thinking.

Practice only. This is not a certificate and does not replace approved training or assessment.

1When handing a firearm to another person, what is the safest default?
2Where should your trigger finger be until the sights are on target and you have decided to fire?
3You are unsure whether a firearm is loaded. What must you assume?
4Can this site replace regulator-approved training?
